Nicolai Wallner talks with Emmanuel Perrotin of Gallery Perrotin about Pharrell, Banksy, and Maurizio Cattelan’s golden toilet among other things.
In the second part of the interview, Emmanuel Perrotin remembers working with Takashi Murakami for the first time in 1993, when he was the first to show the artist outside of Japan. The two gallerists reminiscent about transporting art works in their suitcases to avoid shipping costs and how they got them past customs. Following, Perrotin talks Maurizio Cattelan’s stolen golden toilet and other funny incidents with the artist’s work, suspecting that he has met Banksy one day, as well as collaborating with Pharrell Williams on numerous occasions. Emmanuel Perrotin has been the first gallerist to many now renowned artists or helped introduce them to an international audience.
