About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Gallery Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and contribute to the gallery’s creative and promotional initiatives. This role is essential in ensuring smooth gallery operations, supporting directors and managing a range of creative tasks, from writing press releases to social media strategy.

You’ll be an excellent communicator with superb people management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to work on your own initiative. You’ll have communications experience within the cultural and heritage sector, with knowledge of digital marketing strategies. Your solution-oriented mindset and willingness to go the extra mile makes you a proven team player and someone to be relied upon.

Key Responsibilities

  • – Manage the gallery’s social media accounts and create engaging content to promote exhibitions & artists
  • – Maintain and update the gallery website, ensuring accurate and timely posting of content
  • – Handle webshop orders and maintain editions database
  • – Oversee all press material, artist texts and public-facing copy
  • – Collaborate with photographers and videographers to produce high-quality visual content for promotions and documentation
  • – Assist with ad hoc projects as needed, experience with InDesign, Photoshop, Sketchup, WordPress, Artsy & ArtLogic desirable
  • – Greet clients and visitors, handle incoming and outgoing calls in a professional manner, and assist gallery directors with ad hoc administrative support
  • – Oversee practical office tasks, including organising and distributing mail, maintaining image databases, and ensuring a well-functioning workspace
  • – Responsible for opening and closing the gallery, as well as supporting client viewings and events, occasionally outside regular hours
  • – Lead organisation for gallery events, openings, and special occasions, including hospitality arrangements

 

Qualifications/skills

  • Education: BA or Master’s degree preferable
  • Experience: Minimum five years in a gallery, museum or creative setting
  • Skills: Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work after-hours for gallery events, openings, and client viewings, as well as occasional Saturdays based on a pre-arranged rota system
  • Fluency in spoken and written English essential

 

Salary dependent on candidate’s experience
